Global IP Law Database (Introduction)

Global IP Law Database (GIL), which is "Global Intellectual Property Laws, Regulations and Cases Database" in Chinese, was established in October 2024 to provide a reference for brands in the field of intellectual property in global trade, covering intellectual property laws, regulations and case databases of various countries or regions, and providing information retrieval and document access.

Due to the characteristics of wide geographical scope and many contents, GIL is defined as a project under construction for a long time and constantly improving and updating. Starting from the countries or regions we are familiar with, GIL gradually enriches all aspects of the intellectual property field. The listed legal provisions, implementation rules, amendments, judgments, rulings, etc. are linked or public contents from the government websites of the countries to which they belong. If articles of three parties are involved, they only include titles, and marked the source, at the same time link to the three party website.

GIL currently includes more than 20,000 cases from countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Britain, South Korea, Japan, Philippines, etc. For non-Chinese and English cases, such as Japanese, Korean and Malay languages, the official English translation or summary of the national language is included as far as possible, which is easy to read and understand.

GIL divides the database into trademarks, patents, copyrights, industrial designs, new plant varieties, trade secrets, unfair competition and other sections. Brands can view the corresponding laws, regulations and case information according to the classification. Cases also provide different classification indexes from the jurisdiction court, registration procedures, infringement disputes, etc.

, taking patent disputes as an example, brands can be viewed according to the classification index, such as job invention (Invention by Employee), principle of equivalence (Doctrine of Equivalents), exhaustion of rights (Exhaustion), indirect infringement (Indirect Infringement), patent embezzlement (Usurpation), calculation of loss compensation (Damage Calculation), etc., to understand the classic cases and judicial opinions of specific countries.
